Teaching & Drama

The Philip Larkin Centre for Poetry and Creative Writing, The University of Hull, 2005-6
As the first Director of this centre, I set up an MA in Creative Writing. I established a successful series of readings by visiting writers, including the Poet Laureate, Andrew Motion and the Booker Prize-winning novelist, Alan Hollinghurst. Creative writing students were encouraged to participate in these readings. I edited with Sue Wilsea of Wykes School an anthology of creative writing by students across Hull, from primary school age to university level, For the First Time, launched in 2006. I helped write and perform a verse-play, ‘The Case for the Word’ at the Humber Mouth Festival, 2006.
